John Robert Hill Jr. went viral as “Boonk Gang.” Roughly 4.5 million Instagram followers off reckless stunts, theft, and chaos. It paid, and it got worse, until a 2018 arrest on hit-and-run, weapons, and narcotics charges put him in a Jacksonville county jail.
That’s usually where the story ends. It didn’t. A cellmate kept telling him about Jesus. One night, alone on his bunk, he decided to worship.

December 2024 he walked back into prison, free this time, and preached inside San Quentin with God Behind Bars. He used to be the guy in that cell. Now he goes back to reach him.
